Kanban
A work model where a card's status is the column it sits in.
Umbra's board is not a separate Kanban product bolted to a canvas. The columns are column blocks — the same titled-region primitive you use everywhere else — and the cards are notes. (They were called frames until 2026-08-05; that word now means a presentation slide.)
Geometry is the truth
A card's status is the column containing it. There is a cardStatus field, but
it is only a cache so that cross-board views can answer questions about boards that
are not currently open; whenever the two disagree, the geometry wins and the cache
is rewritten. Drag a card and its status follows. Paste one, or have an agent move
one, and the same thing happens.
What a card carries
Status, assignee, due date, estimate and blockers. Edit them from the right-click menu.
Columns and lanes
- WIP limits live on a column and show as
2/3in its header. A backlog and a done pile are meant to be unbounded; the middle is where limiting work changes how a team behaves, so that is where the limit belongs. - Swimlanes are horizontal bands. They are tested on the vertical axis only, which is what lets a full-width lane and a column overlap.

My work pulls your cards from every team board into one list. It is a private board: nobody else can read it, and it never enters the sync set.
